WINTER WARMERS | RED WINE WE JUST BOUGHT

Only days prior to this series of lockdowns in both Sydney and Melbourne, we had the pleasure of meeting up with our long time friends and our go-to local restaurant and cellar in Sydney – Bistro Moncur.

As we all sit back in a WFH setting, contemplating the next bottle to drink or purchase, here are three Red wines we stocked up on and highly suggest to have in your cellar. Simon Bartato (GM Bistro Moncur) explains why:

2018 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge

Domaine Tempier Rouge is a skilfully blended wine of around 70% Mourvedre combined with also Grenache, Cinsault and a splash of Carignan. The wines balance gives it an ageing potential of 15 years or more with lovely tannin and spicy dark cherry fruit.

2019 Tyrrell’s Old Patch Shiraz

One of the greatest Hunter Valley Wines ever made with such a great vintage 2019 . Deep purple lifted berry fruit with beautiful savoury spice balanced with the dark fruit. Suggest to drink it in the years of 2025 – 2040.

2015 Casanova Di Neri Tenuta Nuova Brunello Di Montalcino

A wine that takes time in the glass to open up. Once opened up you have a long finish of fresh red berry fruits with lots of spice happening. Also on the Global Markets Brunello seems to be the next big hit with wine investment buyers. Suggest to drink it in the years 2023 – 2040+.
